Last week I finished the book, Committed it is the follow up novel to the best selling book and blockbuster hit Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. I'm a big fan of both books, and have wrote a few other posts references these books simply because they touched me so much. I love the way she write. I can entirely relate to her personality, and it's fun to read what happened to her after writing the first book and how she coped with the success. Like Elizabeth, I have a deep rooted love for Read more [...]

According to the book, Outliers, what we consider an expert in a field tend to be a person who has had 10,000 hours of experience or the equivalent of 3 hours a day for ten years. These are the people who are full of vision and talent the people we think of as natural born genius in their field, but really according to Malcom these people have just received more opportunities for practice and that practice has made them extraordinary. This tale and it's many examples of excess seems to scream Read more [...]

I wrote the following post to Elizabeth Gilbert and was originally posted on the Eat, Pray, Love Facebook page. Just thought anyone following my trip may also be inspired by it: This movie is incredibly inspirational. I saw it in theaters in September when it first came out. Was at Icon VIP theater, so got to sit in comfy chairs with a bottle wine with my best friend. Loved the movie. Walked out of there with a bigger outlook. Two weeks later I put in my apartment lease. We are in Idaho today. A beautiful state, with very little city as far as I can tell. I'm more of a city girl but can deeply appreciate the beauty of nature. I've had a lot of time to think during this drive. When entering Idaho I saw mountains, the same mountains that we'd been driving through in Montana for over an hour. These mountains are one of the primary reasons I requested my father fly out to Minneapolis to help me drive to Washington state. I remember them feeling a lot scarier Read more [...]

Sorry my posts are a couple days behind but traveling means going without internet sometimes. We are in Montana today. Woke up early to leave Rapid City, the city of black hills gold, my birth place. It only took a couple of short hours to get through South Dakota and another half hour to go through Wyoming. Montana on the other hand has been a full day venture through hills, mountains, and vast amounts of nothing but open air. I've made this drive before and from what I can tell you of Read more [...]

When I was younger my parents sent me to all kinds of etiquette and leadership building camps, classes and workshops. I grew up in clubs like 4-H, Girl Scouts, FFA, IAYI, sports, and chess clubs. This is where you ask me, "Why are you listing off your past when I thought this post was about management." Don't worry I have a point and I'm getting there. These clubs all have a few things in common: leadership, commitment, team work, and a sense of etiquette. These organizations also all like Read more [...]
