I’ve been working out a lot lately and tracking my nutrition. I’d like to get back into shape and be in the best shape of my life. This takes work and balance. Tracking calories, fat, protein and carbohydrates means not going over the amount of grams you set for yourself but also not being under on your desired intake. Your body needs a certain amount of nutrients to function properly. This analogy also transfers into daily life.

I work a lot, but moving back to Iowa I have to make time for social, personal and work life. Like carbs, I need my work life to take up about 50-70% of my time. Church has been taking up a lot of my social life lately with all the extra activities that are put on. Which honestly makes me want to be a hermit some days. Finding time for friends has moved into fifth place. It doesn’t help that my car broke this week. I’m just trying to remember how I used to balance my responsibilities with social and fiscal balance. I see other people excel at this and be able to vaguely manage their hectic lifestyles, but I find it hard to maintain a balanced routine surrounded by other people and multiple tugs for my attention. I value and want to be in all places at once, but can’t. I think this is why I ran off to the simple life in Washington, the grass is always greener.
